  • A mood board can be any place you gather inspiration. This can be from magazine cut outs to what I personally use, Pinterest boards, but there really aren’t any rules! You’ll just need a project or event in mind and a willingness to let yourself be creative and explore.

Creating a mood board enables you to visualize your business in a way that makes it more tangible. Creating this sacred space where you can display your goals, design/vibe aspirations, and dreams actually brings them to life.

  • Our personalities and values are what make us who we are and the same goes for a brand. An effective brand personality puts a human face on your brand, making it relatable and unique.

Let's look at a few of your brands (and customers) defining characteristics in order to understand your brand.

  • "Competitor" isn't an ugly word. It's someone that's an expander for us, inspiration, goal or reach in our businesses.

The purpose of a competitor analysis is to understand your competitors' strengths and weaknesses in comparison to your own and to find a gap in the market. A competitor analysis is important because: It will help you recognize how you can enhance your own business strategy.

This next section will tell you how to create a successful moodboard in addition to where to make it and how to send it to me.

5 tips for creating a successful mood board.

Your brand and your vibe isn’t always easy to pin down. In my experience, mood boards are a fantastic way to organize all those vibes. Personally I feel like Pinterest is the best option because the type of content is extensive and you can easily collect it all in one place. Another option would be to use Canva, or to go to a website like Unsplash that offers royalty-free images.

When I'm creating mood boards for my clients, I hold these questions lightly in my mind as I work. I let inspiration and curiosity guide me and its incredible what comes through.

here are five tips for creating your mood board:

1. Get in the head space of your future self and future business. This is a chance to recreate yourself and own who you are, so enjoy being in that flow. Feel free to journal, meditate, brainstorm whatever way that feels best before you begin.

2. Think about words that describe your clients. How do they want to feel after working with you? What does success feel/look like for them? Once they work with you, you want them to see their highest potential. So keep that in mind as you collect words and photos.

3. Is location important to your brand? A lot of us are digital nomads now so location may not be as important but if you are location based, how can you incorporate that into your brand and speak to the humans in your area? If you are on the move or location isn’t as important, are there elements of your physical surroundings that could be relevant? Textures, symbols, nature, touch, taste, smell.

4. What do you, as your business, actually do? Are you a coach who helps women in starting their business? Are you a yoga teacher, breath-work facilitator? Also, what are your values? Are you more money-driven, passionate about helping others, care about continuous learning?

5. Start to notice what aesthetics you feel pulled toward. Are you seeing patterns that are showing up in the photos you are collecting? Are you noticing things that you dislike? This is possibly the most important step. Take everything you’ve gathered and assess it all from a branding perspective.

Now create your board on pinterest.

This board should be between 25-50 images that you find by following my tips above.

Discover your brand
step 2

This next section will take you to the link to complete this questionnaire and explain why this section is important

Your brand isn’t about you

This is one of those “tough pills to swallow” for some people - but it’s true. I know a lot of people want their brand to reflect their personality (and I get that, it’s your baby!) but you didn’t create this business to fue your ego - you created it to serve your clients!

It’s so important to keep them in mind throughout this process and make choices from that perspective.

This questionnaire will cover:

Three main sections

  • Who are your people?

  • What does your brand stand for?

  • What is your brand’s personality?

These questions will help to give your brand its personality and will help to guide important questions during this process.

These questions require you to really feel into your business and who your business really is.

If you need a break your questions should auto save and you will be emailed a copy of your responses at the end.

Competitor Analysis
step 3

This next section will take you to the link to complete this questionnaire and explain why this section is important

Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle

When looking at other businesses it’s so easy to compare where you are to what someone else is doing.

That’s not what we’re doing here!

So, what ARE we doing?

  • This exercise isn't intended to help you copy other businesses

  • Comparing yourself to others is not the purpose of this either

  • This WILL, however, help you to identify gaps in the market

  • And it WILL help you to find out what is successful/unsuccessful

These questions will help to give your brand it’s unique flavor and position in the market.

Now fill out the questionnaire by following the link below

These questions require you to really look at your “competitors” objectively and as the inspiration they truly are!

If you need a break your questions should auto save and you will be emailed a copy of your responses at the end.

Thank you!

If you feel called to leave a testimonial along the way or at the end of our time together I’d love to hear your feedback!
